Non Stick "Teflon" Surfaces Care and Use Guidelines
If you follow these instructions, a good quality non-stick pan should give you years of good use
Remember that non-stick pans ( especially cheap ones! ) can scratch easily if you use sharp or stainless steel tools and can chip with time. It is best to use wooden, plastic or silicone utensils.
Do not heat your non stick pan to over 235ºC. There is evidence that this gives off poisonous fumes.
Wash with non abrasive clothes or brushes - do not use a scourer.
If you use a dishwasher, don't use abrasive powders. The cautious only handwash because the dishwasher can start to wear down the non-stick surface
Avoid cutting serving portions in the pan itself - the temptation is to use a good sharp knife and this will scratch the non-stick surface.
Take care to store your pans so that there is no danger of sharp or abrasive surfaces scratching their surface.
Do not store food in the pan after cooking
Finally, remember to follow the instructions suited to the type of pan base you have, whether stainless steel, aluminium etc.
